Rebuild permit fees waived through June 2027. Rebuild proposals that do not go quiet.

Asheville's service economy runs on two engines right now: visitors who spent about $2.6 billion in Buncombe County in 2025, and homeowners still repairing what Hurricane Helene broke in September 2024. Our team puts AI to work inside the software Asheville, Hendersonville and Black Mountain firms already use, so calls get answered and estimates get chased while crews are out on jobs.

A mountain market rebuilding after Helene

Helene reached western North Carolina on September 27, 2024, and flooded almost all of Biltmore Village and the River Arts District along the French Broad and Swannanoa rivers. Landslides closed I-40 and I-26, and the municipal water system was damaged badly enough that most of Asheville went without running water. Buncombe County lost 43 people. The cleanup alone was enormous: by August 2025 the Army Corps of Engineers had hauled almost 2.5 million cubic yards of debris off roads, waterways and private land in the county.

Rebuilding is now the steady work. Buncombe County waives planning and permit fees for many Helene-damaged primary homes through June 30, 2027, and about 400 permits had moved through that program by early 2026. Visitors returned as well. Explore Asheville booked 477 group events in fiscal 2025, up 15 percent, and the regional airport opened a seven-gate North Concourse. Nearly 30,000 county residents earn a living from tourism. In a single week, an owner here may sell to a homeowner working through a repair claim and an innkeeper bracing for October.

Fixes for Helene rebuilds and leaf-season rentals

Remodeling and storm rebuilds

Helene flooded homes and storefronts near the Swannanoa and across Biltmore Village, and much of that repair work is still moving through county permitting. The state's RenewNC repair program does not let homeowners pick their own contractor, so the private-pay jobs that remain go to whoever answers first and explains the scope clearly. Money slips between the site walk and the signed proposal. We would start with Quote Follow-Up to keep every open estimate moving, then Customer Documentation so photos, change orders and permit notes stay attached to each job.

Tree work, grading and landscaping

Tree removal was the first call on a lot of Buncombe properties after Helene. What follows takes longer: retaining walls, which the county's Reduce to Rebuild fee waiver covers, along with drainage, regrading and replanting on yards that changed shape. Those leads trickle in over months instead of arriving in one storm week, and a missed March call can cost the whole season's contract. Speed to Lead answers new inquiries within minutes, and Online Booking lets a homeowner grab an estimate slot without phone tag.

Cleaning for inns and vacation rentals

Buncombe ranks third among North Carolina counties for visitor spending, behind only Mecklenburg and Wake. Companies that turn over guest homes, cabins and small inns feel every swing in occupancy, from a packed mid-October to a slow January. Margin leaks out through scheduling texts, last-minute date changes and checklists that live in one person's head. Back-Office Automation keeps turnover schedules synced with bookings, and the SOP and Process System gives each new cleaner the same standard on day one.

A 15-person remodeling and rebuild contractor in West Asheville. An example, worked step by step.

  1. Buncombe County waives planning and permit fees for many Helene-damaged primary homes through June 30, 2027, so private-pay rebuild proposals keep going out month after month.
  2. Say the firm writes 8 rebuild proposals a month and signs 3, while the other 5 go quiet after the site walk.
  3. That leaves 60 quiet proposals a year, each one a rebuild averaging $15,000 in this example.
  4. Quote Follow-Up keeps every open proposal in front of the homeowner, and turning 1 in 10 of the quiet ones into signed work adds $90,000 a year.

The June 30, 2027 fee waiver is Buncombe County's own program; proposal counts, close rate and job size are hypothetical round inputs, and the real figure depends on your pipeline.

Leaf season, apple weekend and the long rebuild

Asheville's calendar follows the leaves. Color starts on high ground like Craggy Gardens, around 5,500 feet, and works down into the city from September into November, with mid-October the busiest stretch for visitors. Hendersonville hosts the North Carolina Apple Festival every Labor Day weekend, and Henderson County grows about 80 percent of the state's apples. Winter thins out the visitor traffic, which gives inns and rental owners room for deep cleans and repairs. Storm recovery runs underneath all of it on no season at all: permit and insurance work lands whenever the paperwork clears.

Where Asheville firms usually start.

Rebuild work around Asheville is paperwork-heavy and slow to close. Speed to Lead wins the first conversation, Quote Follow-Up keeps proposals alive while homeowners wait on insurance checks or financing, and Customer Documentation holds the photos, scopes and permit records an adjuster or a county inspector will ask to see later.

3systems in one Operating Build

Planned together, priced together, fixed in writing.

Find out what you're leaving on the table in Asheville.

Twenty minutes. We trace how a lead and the work move through your business and show you where the money leaks. No slides. No pitch.

  • You walk us through how leads come in and who handles them.
  • We name the one or two leaks costing you the most.
  • If a build makes sense, you get a fixed quote in writing. If not, you leave with the advice anyway.

Free video call. No pitch. We reply with times to talk.

Asheville owners ask.

Can a Charlotte firm work with an Asheville company without coming up the mountain?

Yes. The first step is a free video call about your business. If a build makes sense, we do all of it by video and screen share inside your own accounts, such as your CRM, phone system and scheduling software. Nobody from Black Glove comes to your shop, training happens on screen with your team, and none of your customer data is stored with us.

We are still rebuilding after Helene. Is this the right time to add AI?

It can be, if calls and estimates are slipping because everyone is out on job sites. We never propose anything that cannot return four times its price in the first year. If your crews are still in emergency mode and a few more months would serve you better, we will tell you that on the first call.

Do you work with firms in Hendersonville, Weaverville and Black Mountain too?

We work across the metro, from Weaverville and Black Mountain down to Arden and Hendersonville. Because every build runs inside your own software, the town your shop sits in does not change how the work goes. The setup changes instead: a Hendersonville landscaper and a West Asheville remodeler need very different follow-up schedules and call routing.

How can a cleaning or rental service company prepare for the mid-October rush?

Set things up before it arrives. Back-Office Automation can tie turnover schedules to the booking calendar, while the Customer Service Assistant fields the routine guest and owner questions that pile up during leaf season. Your team keeps the exceptions. Building in summer gives the system several quiet weeks of testing before the busiest stretch.

Can AI help with documentation on Helene repair jobs?

It can organize it. Customer Documentation gathers job photos, notes and change orders into one record per property, which helps when an adjuster or a Buncombe County inspector asks for proof of work. It does not replace your judgment on scope, and we make no promises about claim outcomes. Everything stays in your accounts, not ours.

What does it cost?

Builds start at $5,000. Your price depends on how many systems you need and how many tools they connect to, and it is fixed in writing before we start. The free price guide shows the full ranges.
